Bro Michael Litka-Fry, a member of JS Popham Conclave No. 7, has been nominated as the 2026 Volunteer of the Year for North Queensland.
Over the past five years, Bro Michael has been actively involved in volunteering across North Queensland, with a particular focus on reducing social isolation among older Australians. His compassionate service has seen him contribute his time within the Townsville Palliative Care Unit, as well as with Legacy North Queensland, where he served as President in 2023.
In addition to his community work, Bro Litka-Fry has played a significant role within NQ Freemasonry. For the past two years, he has served as President of the District Grand Board of Benevolence for the District Grand Lodge of North Queensland. In this capacity, he has helped guide and strengthen the District’s charitable outreach and volunteer programs.
A key highlight of his service has been his leadership in supporting St Andrew’s Meals on Wheels in Townsville, where, through coordinated volunteering efforts and support from Hand Heart Pocket, he has helped raise in excess of $40,000 to assist those in need within the local community.
Bro Michael has also been a steadfast advocate for members accessing support through the Masonic Fund of Benevolence, providing guidance and assistance during times of personal difficulty and natural disasters.
Well done Bro Litka-Fry!
